Do what you can until you can do what you want

That's a pretty damned good quote

So I really torqued my shoulder teaching a patient a shoulder exercise, irony at its best.  Right now I have limited ROM and a pretty good amount of pain which has put a damper on my fitness goals.

I did do the stationary bike for 25 minutes on Tuesday and 15 minutes of working on janda crunches and stretching.

I need to try sprinting and see if it bothers my arm.

So, there is my 'excuse' for not keeping up with my journal....my arm hurts...wah!

Although the red warning is blaring at me, es I do indeed want to reply.  I am blowing the dust off this baby.

low intensity bike ride with the kids for about an hour
practice 1.5 mile for up coming test (15:553- would be happier with 14:00 or so)

Par Course with the kids:
attempted pull-ups- 3 with assistance
incline pullups (almost like upside down push-ups, not sure what they are called) 2 x 5
lat-pull down on a funny seat x 15 (my body weight sort of)
box jumps (onto a bench- I was scared!) x 5
back extension with log x 15
l-sit x 15 sec (this needs work BIG TIME!)
5 dips
28 sit-ups (practice for test)
4 push-ups (stopped for shoulder pain- yes it is still a problem, see doctor tomorrow)

So, it isn't crazy weight lifting or anything, but it sure was fun and I think much more likely to stick with fun!  We are discussing getting a power tower vs a pullup bar.  In a few weeks the Par Course will be inaccessible, so we will need something and either would fit well in our house.

Nope, not a Corpsman.  Medical- yes, Navy- no.  I am in the Air Force and work as a physical therapy tech.

Workout for 9/7

warm-up run 1 mile

sprint/walk/jog 1 mile- 5 sprints, not measured.

Today will be a rest day.  I did ride my bike to work, but I don't really count that as a workout, just locomotion ;)

20 mins moderate intensity intervals on the weird elliptical/stair stepper machine

2 min on Profitter
3 mins on mini-tramp

Tomorrow is my strengthening day :)  I have to leave out the push-ups, doctors orders, I am not happy about that.  But, I suppose I need to since the shoulder issue does not seem to be improving.  The new theory is a strained pec minor, I don't agree, but I will let them think it for now..lol  See the doc again in a month.

Totally blew off strengthening at the end of the week.  Which of course does not help with achieving my goals.  Since organized PT will be a lot of running the next few days, I will 'lift' today.  I have to adjust that too because of my shoulder, injury sucks!!!!

I didn't really work out this weekend, just went for a bit of a walk to get away for a while when teh combination of football and whiney kids got on muy nerves.

Did sprints today, not running.  Used this funky AMT machine made by Precor, then did 5 minutes cool down on elliptical.

Thursday morning organized PT.

circuits- running/walking
crunches- 2 sets
planks 1 set
mountain climbers- 3 sets
jumping jacks- 3 sets
push-ups (I did stragith arm planks) 2 sets
lunges- 2 sets
flutter kicks- 2 sets
 each set was 10 reps

took about 35 minutes

Not my favorite workout.  I am thinking of doing another lifting workout tonight or tomorrow since I really didn't feel that challenged by this one.
