clean diet
« on: January 10, 2010, 09:45:33 AM »
With regards to a different topic on vitD, there were some comments below the article about being in the sun and tanning.
I had cleaned up my diet prior to going back or coming to paleo. In the past I had always burned in the sun being very fair complected, however I noticed that the same exposure to the sun had different effects such as little to no burn and no peeling.
I read somewhere that the affects of a poor diet contribute to the burn by bringing toxins to the skins surface as a way to help eliminate toxins. I thought it was something that could attest to pass along about the idea of a clean diet.

My wife and I recently noticed the same thing.  She has very 'English' skin and used to find it almost impossible to get a tan.  Now she is going brown.

I got burnt a little over summer, but it just disappeared the next day and I never peeled.  It seems we are going brown quicker and are more resistant to burning.  That's great for us Aussies  8)

We must remember that it is not only the type and quantity of food that determines whether its intake is healthy or not; other factors like the strength of the digestive fire, mode of processing, types of food that are processed together, types of food that are eaten together in the same meal, when the food is eaten, how the food is eaten, where the food is eaten, what is done after the meal is over etc. too play a very important role in making the food taken health or unhealthy. Ayurveda dwells on all these points in great detail. We will go over them as briefly as possible to give you an idea of the different factors and how they should be considered in formulating your diet.

Consider your own skin tone. You are clearly very white, just like me. You don't need to worry. You evolved your white skin so you could be under dark clouds 100% of the time and still synthesize enough vitamin D to survive. I doubt either of us ever needs direct sunlight for more than a few minutes at dawn or dusk if if any, and I doubt that much more than that is even healthy for us.

Sandybrosto you are cutting and pasting from other sources without citing them, nor with any real value to the thread.

I assume that sometime soon a commercial link will appear in your signature or previous posts. Don't bother.
The answer to your question is 'eat more fat'.

Stop counting calories. If you are eating Paleo, there is usually no need.

If you are having weight loss issues, it'd be a good idea to start posting a detailed food journal, then everyone can help.

'Anecdotal Evidence' is an oxymoron.
