Someone might have mentioned this...but I am looking for easy quick breakfast ideas.  Especially for our 20 mth old and me.  I know of bananas, and left overs from the night before (if the night before was a Paleo meal).  eggs....but I'd like to know of more.

please

thanks!

to note:  we are pretty new at this...and the rest of our house doesn't eat this way

I wouldn't recommend bananas at all.

When I was eating breakfast, omelettes were good as it was easy to get variation into the same basic meal.

The answer to your question is 'eat more fat'.

Stop counting calories. If you are eating Paleo, there is usually no need.

If you are having weight loss issues, it'd be a good idea to start posting a detailed food journal, then everyone can help.

'Anecdotal Evidence' is an oxymoron.

Breakfast alternatives I have chosen at different times

a) Just coffee (non paleo) or herbal tea.
b) Bacon and eggs with water or coffee (non paleo).
c) Leftovers.
d) Nuts (almonds, walnuts) and water.
e) Sardines and boiled egg.
f) Just water.

I try to keep fruit out of breakfast because it raises insulin. I usually eat fruit after working out or later in the day.

My family usually has hydrating fruits in season for breakfast.

Plus duck eggs.

When I saw you'd posted for a second there I thought it was gonna be '4 pounds of raw liver on a bed of raw goats testicles' :)

A friend of mine sent me this link the other night: http://artofmanliness.com/2010/02/04/5-hearty-winter-breakfasts-to-fill-your-belly/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+TheArtOfManliness+(The+Art+of+Manliness)

of course I'm not talking you into Baked Oatmeal, be sure, that isn't paleo and will never be! But I am looking at the first recipe, the Cajun Breakfast Casserole. The non-paleo ingredients can be easily replaced and it makes a good thing to make in a big quantity and have ready for a quick breakfast.

So some of you don't eat breakfast at all?  I thought it was a bad thing to not eat breakfast.

How do you eat raw?

PaleoRainy:  that Cajun Breakfast Casserole sounds really yummy!

I make it a point to eat breakfast.  I want to concentrate on working and being productive in the morning.  If I'm hungry I can't concentrate.

Duck eggs raw, just open one end and drink.

Fruits raw, say watermelon, or melons just slice and eat.

No need to drink bad old plain water.  A few minutes or hours later, my poop reflex kicks in.  I like this kind of daily schedule.  Poop regularity is important to me.

Hi Samjohn, with raw liver, I would have it only 2x a month, less than 250 grams.  I prefer raw oysters or raw small fish in vinegar or lemon juice.  But the big animal meals I usually have them for lunch or dinner, not breakfast.

I don't understand why anyone would want to drink bad water.  I always drink it fresh from the tap.

I meant cool watermelon and melons have superior hydrating qualities that cannot be matched by plain tap water or spring water or mineral water or reverse osmosis water or distilled water.

And how is fruit, that is 90%+ water any more hydrating than 100% water ???
The "Seven Deadly Sins"

• Grains (wheat/rice/oats etc) . . . . . • Dairy (milk/yogurt/butter/cheese etc)
• Refined foods (salt/sugars etc ) . . • Nightshades (peppers/tomato/eggplant)
• Tubers (potato/arrowroot etc) . . . . • Legumes (soy/beans/peas)
• Modernly palatable (cashews/olives etc)

"their theory" is that the structure of water in hydrating fruit is human appropriate allowing humans to be hydrated much more effectively than plain old water. It works for me and my family.

I remember my bad old days when I'd drink more than 8 glasses of water a day and pee all day... not efficient.  Somehow fruit hydration is retained in my body and plain water, most of it is discarded as pee immediately.

I just don't see how adding sugar to water can make it any more hydrating.

It probably makes you store more glucose (which retains water).  That's called bloating and it's not better for you.  It's the reason people drop a bunch of water weight when they start low carb.

Generally for me it's coffee or tea, 1 cup, black.  Not every day, but some days it's nice.

A 4oz. (or so) glass of orange juice (fresh without sugars added) and a vitamin.

Usually a little fruit with some turkey, chicken, or a little roast beef.

I second "leftovers."  One morning there was some sweet corn left, and I ate that for breakfast.  WONDERFUL.
