I am so with you LoneWolf, I used to wear size 34 pants, they were a bit loose, now I'm on size 32 which are now a bit loose, I have had to throw away many jeans and shorts and I only have a little bit of cash now though.

I've held onto all the clothes I've grown out of. I can't wait to get into my black wool coat again (~150lbs/68kgs). I have some clothes that are getting too big that I'm about to donate.

I still have 2 pairs of pants I used to love. Not sure why. That was back when a 32 waist was loose on me, and I owned 30 waist pants... A few months ago, a 34 was tight... :(

2/21/10

weight: 166.2lbs (75.4kg)
fat:        40.9%
water:    38.0%
muscle:  32.9%
BMI:      29.4

Okay, slow week. It could have been the lasagna I had a couple nights ago, but I think it was the 9 boiled eggs I had late last night for dinner, with melted butter. Or it could be just because. Can't expect to loose three pounds every week!

Some of my inches are lower. Lost .75" (1.9cm) from my neck and a whole 1.25" (3.2cm) from my waist. With the chest and waist I just breathed in as far as I could and took that measurement. I tried on bras with that size in mind and they were all too small. Some measurements are higher, but I'm discounting them, they are small enough to just be variation in measurement or rounding. Thinking about going metric. It might be fun with measurements and reduce problems with rounding, but not quite as gratifying with weight.

The first few kilos to lose is easy, it's when you want that tight definition that last 2 or 3 kilos, very hard work. I was 66kilogram for like 2 weeks, now 65kg, that's everyday sprinting, no rest day at all, and eating relatively healthy. I have not had a rest day for about 6 weeks and I'm still going hard - although I have blisters all on my feet from running :(

+ I try and stay away from the scales 99percent of the time, my weight and how I look are 2 different things.

I have about 15 more kg to go. So this isn't that.

I think it's just my body taking a little break. It has been three weeks since my period and my weight just might stall for another 1-3 weeks until I have my period again.

Yes the more I watch the patterns my body takes...the more I see that the only time I seem to lose weight is during the 1 week I am not about to bleed or actively bleeding.  I have a 3 week cycle so my window of opportunity is small.  I think you said you have a 6 week cycle?  So yes I would figure on about 3 of those weeks as staying the same weeks or even slight gains due to fluid retention.

Garrulous, I've added some recos on your journal. I think you need more protein and fat and less carbs.

Lone_Wolf, as I wrote in your journal, maybe you should consider intermittent fasting.

Sassenach, don't worry about fluid retention. Fluid weight is irrelevant, you are trying to get rid of body fat. If you want to monitor daily progress, you can get a scale that measures body fat and fluid separately. That way you'll know whether you are just retaining fluid (and ignore the weight) or not losing fat (and act accordingly).

Yah...that could help.

I am thinking now...it makes more sense that women seem to have to really limit fruit and any carbs at all....I think the estrogen hormone craziness just gets crazy any time carbs are present.  That's just my opinion and likely misguided but whatever..

Sassenach, you are right about there being differences in how men and women lose fat  based on hormones. On the other hand, these differences are relatively modest, according to one source.

Quote
Sure, women naturally have a higher percentage of body fat and tend to carry it in places where it’s not as readily burned as abdominal fat. It’s true, also, that our relative hormones levels have some influence on our body’s use of fat for fuel, our resting metabolism, and our sensitivity to other hormones key to exercise response. But these gender-based differences have been found to be relatively modest.

I would just note that what you do while you are not losing weight matters too.  Even if eating right is not causing you to lose weight during the bloat period, it is preventing you from gaining as much weight.  In the long run, not gaining during the bad times is just as important as losing during the good times.

okay I don't want smite for hijacking a thread...but of course just because I am bloating due to being a woman I wouldn't be eating crap....it only makes sense to me that you'd have to be extra vigilant to NOT eat any crap otherwise I would bloat even more!  It just seems I only make any noticeable change during 1 week.

I haven't read much on how big or small the differences are between men and women losing weight...but I do know that I have been struggling to lose anything for 3 years now....and I have to be DEAD on in order to get my body to even consider it.  My hubby who hasn't done anything just stops eating 1 snack and he loses 10 lbs and keeps it off.
