Goal garment now fits -- Tell us about your goal garment!
« on: July 18, 2010, 04:30:30 PM »
I bought a rather snazzy shirt two years ago and, frankly, even at the time it was a bit tight on me. Well, given the cost, I couldn't drop it off at the Sally Ann so I kept it. Last month, when cleaning, I found it and decided it would make a good test of my progress since (re) starting paleo at the end of April.

It fit, a bit better than when I stopped wearing it, but it was still tight. Now, one month later and seven pounds lighter, it fits so nicely that I took it in for dry cleaning.

Dry cleaning for a shirt?  It must really be snazzy!

I actually am preparing to drop off a bunch of shirts to the Salvation Army because I've gone down one collar size and my shirts are rather baggy. I've started buying new ones, actually.

Does anyone else have goal garment?

I have a black pea coat that I really love. I hope to be able to get into it again when I get down below 150lbs. Then I have a white dress that has eyelet fabric and sort of a corset thing going on that I will probably be able to get into when I get below 140.
Change requires you to scream, I'M NOT GONNA TAKE ANY MORE!...and then you don't.

I'm trying not to think of my own pea coat. I don't generally do this, but I actually bought a designer brand pea coat, Hugo Boss, when it was on sale at 60 per cent off. Well, I was 185-190 when I bought it and by next winter I'll be a heck of a lot less. I'd imagine it'll fit like a clown coat next season. Too bad! At least I didn't pay much for it.

I had this happen recently. My girlfriend got me an awesome Thundercats tshirt as a gift once, but she couldn't find it in adult sizes. So it's a child's XL or something. It was too tight on me, and you could clearly see gut flub when I put it on. Now it hangs nicely.

Whoa Thundercats? Your girlfriend is awesome.
The answer to your question is 'eat more fat'.

Stop counting calories. If you are eating Paleo, there is usually no need.

If you are having weight loss issues, it'd be a good idea to start posting a detailed food journal, then everyone can help.

'Anecdotal Evidence' is an oxymoron.

Me too! This one is way to big for me now...

Diets fail because society as a whole believes body image is more important than health. The problem is that obesity is simply one of many symptoms of an illness, not the illness itself.

And I'm being cured.

Good job everyone.

As for myself, I'd grown used to wearing size 16 1/2 collars on dress shirts. Well, a month ago I had to buy some fifteen collar dress shirts because my old tops were starting to look like blouses. Oddly enough, it was only when I bought new dress shirts that people noticed the weight loss. Well, to-day I happened on a sale and found some 14 1/2 collar shirts at a great price. Well, guess what? They fit perfectly.

I hate being a musclehead.

I have a 20" neck. Most of the big and tall shops, oddly enough, only cater to the very tall or very fat person. I wear a 2xl shirt but with a 20" neck, have to buy 5XL shirts and have them tailored down to fit. If I'm only wearing a tie for a short period of time, I can make due with a 19" neck shirt and simply deal with the discomfort, but then the sleeves are too short and narrow and shoulders are way too narrow as well.

Jeans suck as well. Jeans that fit my waist properly will not fit my thighs, which are 34" diameter (squats cure everything). I usually have to buy fat jeans and then cinch them down with a belt... or just wear nothing but carpenter jeans. I found out the hard way that keys in your pocket are very uncomfortable if your jeans weren't made for your dimensions.
