I know what you mean about the clothes not fitting.  I've resorted to safety pinning my skirts up lest they fall off my waist mid-stride!  I hate clothes shopping.  :(
Do you know a tailor who could take them in?  Even a lot of dry cleaners will do that kind of thing.

Wow, your progress report is incredible! You've done great!

I know what you mean about the clothes not fitting.  I've resorted to safety pinning my skirts up lest they fall off my waist mid-stride!  I hate clothes shopping.  :(

I was a chunky couch potato just over a year ago. Then I cut out grains, sugar, and most processed food.  Now every day I think, "wow, I feel good!"

And with recently cutting out dairy and the smaller processed items that were left (diet soda, splenda, crystal light), I expect I'll be feeling even more awesome as time goes on.

It's all good, and I'm lovin it!
NICE!!!!! ;D

:D ROFL - I have to laugh because I live in a military community, right by Fort Bragg Army Post.  Which means there are tailors, seamstresses, and dry cleaners on EVERY block around here, some side-by-side, because they cater to the military population.  I surely have no excuse for not altering my clothes.  I will do it.

I actually took a sewing class in hopes of doing it myself, but the class was geared towards making things from a pattern and did not get into alterations.

IT"S WORKING

This morning I noticed a change in the way a sweater fits me since last month.
I stepped on the scale and low and behold I gained 2 lbs. I'm leaner as well! My abs are sharper and I'm a bit more vascular.

My carbs have been down to my bare minimum for the last 6 weeks. So fruit before and after lifting, veggies for my last 2 meals. No fruit on days I don't lift except an avocado with my morning eggs.

Down again

Well, I've lost 12 lbs. since I got the new bike. Mostly bodyfat, but, I'm sure I've dropped a little muscle as well.  :-\ My lifts are down 5 lbs. on average. I'm nearly ski season lean again.

Nice! Speaking of bike.....completed my first stage race this past Sunday fueled on nothing but paleo nutrition. Well.....I did hydrate with some gatorade cut with 50% water due to the heat of the mid day road race. It was funny. After the stages were complete I'm eating coconut meat and milk, watermelon, applesauce and bananas while other racers are all "carbing" up with grains and pastas. To each his own but I had a good day and hunger/bonking was not an issue.

Race report here.....

I agree with a lot of the positive reports other folks have written about!

I'm over 8 weeks in now, and I'm slimmer, (my pants fit much more easily), I don't need to snack anymore, my skin is smoother, my energy level remains good all day - good stuff!!

This is interesting though - I thought for sure I had lost weight since my clothes fit looser now, but I finally got access to a scale, and my weight is still exactly the same. I guess I'm more muscle now!

Great progress! Keep at it.

Time off
« Reply #39 on: May 02, 2011, 11:25:21 AM »
Took some time off (5 days) from splitboarding and weight training. Body needed a break!  ;D
This was easily motivated by a touchy, schizophrenic snowpack.  >:(

I ate like a big Paleo pig for all 5 days with no visible repercussions.
All Paleo foods!
Least kcals ingested was 3800kcals.
On 2 days I ate just over 4,000kcals and 2 days I ate over 5,000kcals.
Most CHO consumed in 1 day was 130g.
Most PRO - 400+ g.
Most Fat - 260g.

Only exercise I got was walking the dogs. Longest walk was 5mi.

I did my daily a.m. stretch, shadow box and martial arts technique work. As well i kept my evening PVC pipe, Kong ball rolling, Thumper and icing session.

So nice to just relax and eat for a week.  ;D

Such excellent results for so many people!

I had actually hopped on to caveman to give a similar report.  Four weeks in, and the first comment from two people who hadn't seen me for the last two weeks was: Have you lost weight?  I know paleo isn't for weight loss, its a healthy lifestyle choice, but for me that is such music to my ears.  Truly.  And I am able to say yes, my clothes are very loose all over now.

Not weighing myself until I've done at least two more months, to give my body time to make lots of adjustments.  I can feel the muscles in my shoulders and thighs have become larger and harder, so assume some weight gain there...want to give my body time to lose quite a bit of fat.  But if all goes well, there will be pre- and post-palaeo pictures. Yay.

P.S. I'm not strict paleo yet, I'm trending down.  No grains/gluten/processed foods/anti-thyroid foods whatsoever, but still some caffiene, dark chocolate and high fat cheese.  I also seem to be naturally settling into a two or three low to no carb day cycle, broken with one day that includes apples or some wine or even some sweet potato.  I can't get over how much my body craves fat, and how eating it is still leading to noticable visible fat loss.  Amazing!

Congratulations!  I started on 04/14 and I noticed last night fishing along the banks of the river, that my pants were starting to fall down!  I'll gladly part with some coin to buy some pants with smaller waist size :-)  Nothing like a flat, hard stomach and size 32 levis that are getting too big.   I'm 53 by the way  :)
Someday when I finally keel over and stop moving I want to make sure I'm running at the time :-)

I am commiting a caveman forum sin.  :(

About 2 months ago I suffered a serious arm injury.
I was doing sprint style kettlebell snatches with a 32kg. bell with my eyes closed.
My 80yr old neighbor stepped in the line of fire, luckily I opened my eyes. I diverted the trajectory of the bell laterally. This twisted my arm, the bell got hung up my hand and slammed into my thigh. I believe 29 yrs. of Muay Thai saved me from a broken leg.
 My left arm
I strained all my digital flexors, brachialis and pronator teres.

My sin
I'm taking a multi-vitamin. It's the first vitamin I've ever taken that doesn't give me sour vitamin gut and stinky urine.
