Andrea In Canada
« on: September 02, 2010, 08:17:02 PM »
Hi All!

My name is Andrea. I am 29 years old and this is the year I get it all on track. I have been dieting and exercising off and on for the past few years. I did what everyone does. Lose, lose, lose, gain GAIN OH NO!!! GAIN!!! Then went back and started all over again.

I have ALWAYS been overweight. This is my life.

I came across paleo in Twitter and decided to give it a whirl. I have been on it for 4 days and have lost about 6 pounds. I bet a lot of this is due to water loss, and recovery from a binge over the weekend.

I am so dedicated to this. It is relatively easy compared to other diets. I am happy to say that I DIDN'T buy a book for this one. I find them overwhelming and I feel I disappoint the experts in the books.

We are in this together folks! Good luck to all :)

Sincerely,

Andrea

Current weight - 238 pounds
measurements - no idea.

Welcome.

Yes, a lot of the loss in the first week or two is water weight.  It's still good, though.

Please, please, please don't get bothered when you stop losing weight quickly.  The first few weeks the pounds seem to simply evaporate and then it stops or slows down.  Many people give up at this point and backslide.  You must not let this happen. You don't need to be overweight.  You can be at the "right weight" simply by eating what you are supposed to eat and not eating what you are NOT supposed to eat.  It is that simple.  Be good to your body and it will be good to you.  If you feel like you are hitting a rough patch, use this forum and seek help.  we are sometimes brutally honset but it is all in your best interest.  While we do not know you, we love you just the same....  Well, we love you as a fellow cave clanmember.  ;D

Hello and what Bearso said. It took a while to put it on and it will take a while to take it off. Once you have adjusted, you will find this really easy and feel really healthy too.

Hi Andrea,

I spent quite a bit of time in Canada at one time or another, and would really like to know why the cheese there is so expensive and why is it such odd colours?

Btw starting a detailed food journal makes it easy for people to help you sort out your food.
The answer to your question is 'eat more fat'.

Stop counting calories. If you are eating Paleo, there is usually no need.

If you are having weight loss issues, it'd be a good idea to start posting a detailed food journal, then everyone can help.

'Anecdotal Evidence' is an oxymoron.

hee hee...the cheese is very expensive here!  But I never realized how inexpensive it was everywhere else.  I had a neighbour from New Zealand and she said what we pass as cheese here is not even close to the amazing cheese they have there...

Dyed plastic compared to what you'll get in Aus.

Aren't you supposed to be saying "eh" at the end of every sentence or referencing Rush or the MacKenzie Brothers in every post?  ;D

LOL! No matter how jacked up our finances are, and how insolvent we are, we still don't have currency known as a looney.   ;D

I've actually spent a lot of time in the Great White North. I grew up in Rochester, NY and made many a trip to Toronto; and as an adult I have visited Vancouver many times and it is my favorite city anywhere.

I'm on Vancouver Island in BC.  BC is awesome then Newfoundland (where my family is from) is the second most gorgeous province.

I've been there as well and I agree it is beautiful.  The hydrofoil I road from Port Angeles left my not wanting to go on the ocean again though.  :-X
