The answer to your question is 'eat more fat'.

Stop counting calories. If you are eating Paleo, there is usually no need.

If you are having weight loss issues, it'd be a good idea to start posting a detailed food journal, then everyone can help.

'Anecdotal Evidence' is an oxymoron.

going to show my dumbness now but nightshades?

Tomatoes, Eggplant, Chilis, Gooseberries, Goji Berries, etc...

I still eat Nightshades. Maybe not as much anymore because I find they aren't that tasty without salt. Tomatoes and bacon still find their way on my plate every once in awhile.

Some parts of Cordain's book I strongly disagree with (I think I have revision 1 of the paleo diet, this may have changed) - I was pretty shocked to see "diet cola" in his meal plans.
Diets fail because society as a whole believes body image is more important than health. The problem is that obesity is simply one of many symptoms of an illness, not the illness itself.

And I'm being cured.

They are allowed in paleo, but if you have autoimmune issues you might consider nixing them.  Also, they may contribute to arthritic pain.  Simply cut nightshade out for a month and see if you feel better.

I consider them "allowed" personally, however many of the members here do not eat them and have reported improved health in their absence. The logic that nightshade plants evolved chemical deterrents to being eaten (such as capsicum) is similar to the phytotoxins in legumes and grains that keep us from eating them.
