Weight loss journal
« on: September 02, 2010, 05:55:51 AM »
I've been having trouble cutting the size of my waist. I made some amazing progress a few days ago but all the fat just appeared again (without any cheating). I'm eating all my meals (two) within 4 hours of each other but still nothing. Heres my daily intake.....

400 grams of mince
One onion
200 grams of chicken liver
200 grams of mixed fruits, mango, papaya, kiwi
200 grams of desicatted coconut

Eat nothing but meats, good fats, and veggies. Don't eat any fruit, nuts, or seeds and continue IF eating in a 4 hour or 7 hour window.

Why no fruit, nuts or seeds?

I am just telling you what worked for me. You will lose faster on low carb paleo. If you eat a lot of nuts and seeds, you are adding calories.

1st meal

400 grams of pork belly
100-200 grams of broccoli

2nd meal

1 tin of coconut milk
1 tin of tuna

Kind of off the weight loss topic but i'm a little concerned about whether i'm doing the whole paleo thing right. Having seen pictures and videos of fellow paleoers they seem a lot more vibrant and healthy than myself (who is pale and generally a little unhealthy looking). Has anyone got any advice on what I might be doing wrong?

How do you feel?  Do you feel any better but just don't look like you think you should or do you not feel better yet???  Looks can be deceiving.
No expectations, no disappointments!

We really only have 2 meals to go on here, but what makes you think that you can see results of a diet based on how "vibrant" a person looks. And what makes you think you're doing anything wrong?

As an aside, you do seem to be going heavy on the IF and low carb side of things. Have you even experimented with other ways of doing things? Try removing the IF, see if you feel better. Or try upping the carbs, see if you feel better.

I'm pretty sure you and I have been down this route before in another post - are you sure you're not simply depressed in general? Have you seen a doctor?

What is your height and weight? Body fat%? Etc.  What are your goals?  I see you've been a member here for about 1 year. Have you been eating paleo that long?  Are you still eating nuts? Are you logging EVERYTHING you consume (including condiments, cooking oils/fats)? I only see a few days logged in that time. Are you eating greens everyday? Etc.

I think you've identified a key part of the problem.  The fact that you had an entire meal out of canned foods illustrates that.

If it comes out of a can, it's not strictly paleo.  In this case, the coconut milk may well have sugar added, and almost certainly has preservatives.  The tuna probably has salt and maybe soybean oil.

The paleo diet should ideally consist entirely of fresh, whole food, cooked by yourself if it needs cooking.

Possibly you're not getting enough sunlight and the attendant vitamin D.  However, it may just be that you don't "get" the diet and lifestyle yet.

For the record - I eat a decent amount of tuna out of sheer convenience. Always buy it "in water", as the ones "in oil" are likely non-paleo oils. You can also get "low sodium" tuna.
