My goals are using food for energy and fuel, not just eating. My goal is losing at least 50lbs (I'm 5"3 and 201lbs), but know it won't happen overnight.

The pancakes are something a trainer-friend told me about, especially while beginning with this it will help with the transition. I figure once every few weeks if I make a small faux-pancake it will help me not go back to the real pancakes (especially being in Atlanta where there are tons of Waffle House and IHOP).

Then I'd lose watermelon altogether - pure sugar.  Limit bananas for the same reason.Just follow the basic rules and eat meat and greens until full.  If the faux-neolithic foods are transitional you are fine, but they don't work for me.  I prefer going cold turkey, although I had 1 treat (faux banana ice cream) a few weeks ago.  To help with the first few weeks of no grains I kept a limited amount of dairy (sips of heavy cream as needed to help keep me feel satiated).  Don't fear fats.
