phrak's phood
« on: January 12, 2010, 12:57:03 PM »
Time to starts me a food journal.

I don't mind dairy, especially when it comes in probiotic form (and every so often, a glass of whole milk is yum), but I know someone will say something about it eventually if I don't.

Due to some elimination issues, I'm going to be tracking these things here. Gross, I know, but whatever. On the days when things get bad, I'll add two little asterisks in the timeline.

Jerky is great. I've been making my own for a few years now. I usually make one batch a month, though. Otherwise I eat too much of it :)

I typically buy "sandwich beef" from the grocery store, slice it up, and throw it in a gallon freezer bag with enough water to barely cover (1-2c) and whatever seasonings I feel like. The last batch had onion and garlic powder, lots of red pepper flakes, and then some all-purpose "meat seasoning" stuff that is a decent mix for beef. I have to say it was much better than my last batch which I seasoned largely with Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and onion salt.

:D We usually make jerky twice a week!

I used to make it but found it never lasted long :S  like the idea of buying the beef already sliced

Yeah, the beef made for roast beef sandwiches is thin enough for me, just needs to be cut into strips. I've also debated buying skirt steak for the same thing, but it's more expensive and jerky doesn't exactly need good quality cuts...

I've been coming across more and more IF and CRON articles and have decided to try it. Today I'm just trying it out - fasting until 9pm or so, and drinking lots of tea and water.

I think in the future I may try the "Eat, Stop, Eat" style, where every tuesday and thursday become 24 hour fast days.

I have noticed huge energy boosts for a few hours when in stomach rumble mode. I would assume it's so I am more able to catch dinner. But it's still fun. This may have some merits
