Sweet Baby Jesus---it was  hard weekend and I would be lying if I said my nutrition was on par.  it wasn't and I'm over it....moving on.

My fridge is now stocked with meat, meat and more meat :)  and or course green veggies :)

My nutrition over the weekend may not have been Paleo but it was still "healthy" in terms of what the SAD has to offer.  It was nothing to shake a stick at but definitely not Paleo...and I paid the price :-[

When people ask me about Paleo and they hear that it's meats, veggies and fats the look of horror on their face is pricelesss.

"What?  You eat whole eggs and fatty meats?  Aren't you worried about your cholesterol?"
I never know what to tell them.  What do you all say?

My total lipid (cholesterol) count went from 210 to 185 in only 2 months of Paleo. I've not checked again recently, but I'm gonna guess I'm still good.

i got the same question today "wont your cholesterol be sky high since you are eating all this fatty meat??"

I just had to say that i was fitter and leaner than before and that there is research out there to prove that this is a healthy diet. Tried giving her my copy of the Paleo Diet by cordain but she proclaimed she couldnt be bothered to read it.

I just dont get it sometimes - but people will only believe what they want to i suppose!

You can lead a horse to water.....

thanks for your replies.  I get SO TIRED of feeling like I have to 'defend' myself when it comes to the way I CHOOSE to eat and train.  Irritating.  But luckily the people who know me best (family and close friends) understand me and usually if they say something it's in a joking manner.

But, moving to a new city and state and meeting people who don't understand what I'm trying to accomplish and WHY I don't want to go out to a smoke filled bar and drink beer is hard to deal with.  It just annoys me sometimes that I have to defend myself for being healthy.  It's not like I look at their McDonalds breakfast and start making remarks...to each their own.

Squash..butternut, acorn, spaghetti, etc.  Anyone have any constructive criticisms?  Any one taste better than another?  I've only had the 3 I listed.

I use Acorn mostly in curries (cubed and cooked with the meat and spices). Spaghetti squash I'll actually strip and use as a "soba noodle" with stirfry. Butternut is fantastic halved, baked skin-side down, with tallow on top.

I've only had the acorn once and I don't remember the flavor.  There is one with a k (kabasha or something like that?) that I've heard is excellent.  Don't the winter squashes have a higher carb content than the summers?

Bought grass fed bison, beef and elk last night from a local farmer  ;D  I can't wait to cook it up and experiment with different recipes.  I have NEVER had elk before so this should be interesting....

I just ate my first burger in YEARS....grass fed, too ;)  It was....delicious actually.  I was kind of surprised how GOOD it tasted to me.  That's the first "meal" of red meat for me in a LOOONNNNGG time!
I'm branching out.... :D

::) Life would be SOOOO much easier if I could get my hubby on the Paleo bandwagon.  Pick your battles I suppose...and of course some battles are just not meant to be won!  ::)
