« on: September 07, 2010, 07:50:26 PM »
Yesterday:am: lots of coffee w/ coconut milk7pm: rare steak, pot roast, small salad, sliver of cheesecake @ a buffet1am: can of tuna, 1 tb mayoToday: am: coffee & coconut milk7pm: three eggs, 1 tb butter, 2 oz cheeseCheesecake was a very bad idea, and the cheese in my diet is just until it runs out.I'm out of work, broke, and eating paleo is a challenge. Thankfully on this woe small amounts of food keep me satisfied/full of energy.

I'm out of work, broke, and eating paleo is a challenge.

I'm not broke nor am I rich, but I shop by the weekly ads from three different grocery stores. I can't afford or access to grass fed beef so I substitute the best I can with fish oil from Costco or Sam's Club. I like the buy one get 1 free chicken breasts and other kinds of meat. If you have a Winn-Dixie, they have great specials on meat.

I also intermittent fast and that saves money, but it takes time for your body to adapt. I started just once a week.

I'm not rolling in it either.  Luckily, veg is pretty cheap, much more so than fruit, so I buy a lot of that - courgette, broccoli, cauliflower, onion, garlic, squash, turnip, swede, parsnip, betroot etc.  I buy the lot, and it's really useful for padding out meals.

When I don't want to splurge on a nice fruits of the sea mix i just get mussels - £1 vs £3 for the mix.  Then add veg and coconut milk (50p) and curry paste, ginger, lemon grass and cook up a curry that will do for 2 meals.

Know what else is cheap and very paleo?  Kidneys and liver.  You can get a small amount of lamb chunks, pad it out w kidneys, onions, carrots and parsnips to make a nice rich stew.

The only grain I have eaten in the past 2 weeks is a haggis, which contains oats and barley and...sheeps lungs.  Very very cheap.  I reckon if I'm going to have a bit of the grain, may as well eat it in a believably paleo way...
Sugar addiction kills more people than all other kinds of drugs combined

If your food needs a prefix, it's not paleo!

I love to eat liver and onions. Never ate it growing up until I went into the USAF and they had it all the time. I would love to try other organs if I can get them fresh and grass fed like beef heart and tongue.

Heart is the least like organs. You might want to wade in with that.
Change requires you to scream, I'M NOT GONNA TAKE ANY MORE!...and then you don't.

I've tried hearts ground with hamburger & eaten on a bun, so it's more than taste. I have a deep psychological block. I'd eat cat  or dog, but no organs.

Dumb question, what does IF stand for?

Edit: Nevermind, just saw it as intermittent fasting on another thread.

Tues:am: coffeepm: 3 eggs scrambled with 2 TB butter1/2 cucumber, 1 cup lettuce, 3 TB oil & vinegar dressingFinally weighed myself - no loss in last few days. I will fluctuate up & down 3 or 4 pounds a day. Waist & hips go up & down an inch day-to-day, too. Net loss of 1 inch on each over last week, though.
