I would agree that not to blame it on toxins...that's not what I meant.

Maybe there are some waste byproducts that are having a hard time clearing, in her blood, bowels etc (these are not mysterious things these are normal things that are broken down and then cleared by the liver, kidneys etc) and so can kindof bog your system down.  Increasing water would help your body to flush them out.  If you are chronically deydrated then everything starts to slow down.

I noticed a HUGE change in my energy levels when I started drinking enough water.  And lemon is good to reduce acid load on your body.

I've been on this WOE since mid January. I probably don't drink enough water. I tend to stick with tea and I get distracted at work and don't get up and get any.
I will set the alarm on my phone and do the water and lemon thing :)

Introduced veggies with dinner the last two days and I feel a bit better. Still wondering about thyroid. Gonna push that angle when I go back to the doctors.

Thanks guys.

What specific tests would you say are necessary to get a definitive answer about ones thyroid?   Back in my teens I had all the symptoms of a thyroid condition, and they did two tests (too long ago to remember) and said nope everything is in the normal ranges. Yet still I was lethargic, dark circles under eyes etc.

Later on I read that one part of an accurate thyroid examination is having something tested very early in the morning?
The answer to your question is 'eat more fat'.

Stop counting calories. If you are eating Paleo, there is usually no need.

If you are having weight loss issues, it'd be a good idea to start posting a detailed food journal, then everyone can help.

'Anecdotal Evidence' is an oxymoron.

The normal course of action for doctor's is to test your TSH first.  IF this is normal..nothing else happens you are "fine".

BUT, in my case I had normal TSH and my Thyroid Antibodies were off the charts.  This would eventually lead to hypothyroidism (could take 1 year or could take 20 years) but my immune system is attacking my thyroid.  This particular combo is called subclinical hypothyroidism and it is rampant in our society.

On thyroid medication, my TSH is nearly 0 but I have normal T4 and T3 levels.  The zero TSH just indicates that my pituitary is functioning but the T4 and T3 are the real indicators of whether your Thyroid is functioning properly.

If you still have hypothyroid symptoms I would get your doctor to test your thyroid antibodies (TPO) AND your T4 and T3 levels.

The only one I know of that is first thing in the morning is to take your temperature and if it is low, below 97F(?). Then that means you are hypothyroid. I did that test on myself before medication and it was 95.9F.

here's something on it:

Change requires you to scream, I'M NOT GONNA TAKE ANY MORE!...and then you don't.

I have persuaded and I mean nagged! my doctor to check my T3 levels. I am waiting on the blood tests until next week.

She seems convinced my thyroid is fine and I asked her why I felt to lousy then!. Shs suggested I might be oestrogen deficient and recommended Black Cohosh or Red Clover. She would not prescribe so I had to buy. I settled after some research and discussion at the store on a liquid tincture of black cohosh. this is quite expensive so I have found somewhere online that does it cheaper.

She reckons it might take two months (rolls eyes) to notice a difference IF THERE IS ONE!

Does anyone else have experience. I don't want an eostrogen dominance so should I use a progesterone cream as well?

All thoughts gratefully received.

Grains cause fatigue in many people. More fat, and more meats/produce usually result in more energy.

more energy yes, however the body is very slow at burning fat and proteins compared to carbs.
He's feeling tired because the body cannot give him enough readily available energy. Basically eat more low GI carbs. Not more fats.

haha
of course.

I'm find the paleo diet to be very interesting.

Eat more vegetables. I'm still skeptical on the whole 60%+ fat intake issue though.

And in women, at least, it's carbohydrates that seem to cause heart disease:

You might enjoy the book The Fourfold Path to Healing. Pretty paleo friendly book and he talks a ton about regulating hormones with things like CLO. Just remember that hormones like progesterone, dhea, estrogen are all made from pregnenolone which is made from cholesterol. Better than taking estrogen or progesterone would be to take pregnenolone so that your body can determine where which hormones it needs to make from it the most. Better yet is to get plenty of cholesterol, fat, omega 3's and let your body do the rest. Sleeping in complete darkness is super important for regulating hormones and to help sync your cycle with the moon (that can really make a huge impact on hormone regulation). You can also use seeds and oils to aid in this. Taking ground flax and pumpkin seeds and cod liver oil from new moon to full moon. Then switch to sesame and sunflower seeds and borage oil from full moon to new moon.
