« on: September 02, 2010, 07:32:51 PM »
Guys,

I was wondering what other meats would you pair up with eggs for breakfast?? I know steak and eggs is a classic. Any organ meats??

Thanks,

I drink raw eggs by themselves.
I just had 2 raw duck eggs this morning.

Eggs also go well with sardines or small smoked fish or tiny dulong fish.
I'm on Raw Paleo diet but I have kids to feed on cooked paleo diet.

Salmon is pretty tasty.

I still eat bacon.  Very un-cavemanish of me.

Why do you need to add meat to your eggs?

Make some flat rissole things (minced meat) and then you can put runny eggs on top, or chop up any leftover meat/veg and make an omelette or fritatta, liver or kidney are traditional breakfast foods, so is smoked fish like kippers for that matter.

You can eat dinner or lunch food at breakfast time - think more about quick or easy to prepare than eggs on a plate with something alongside.

I eat whatever I feel like eating at whatever time I feel like eating it.  If you give up the notion that specific foods are meant for one meal over another you will limit yourself.  I am sure caveman didn't worry about the time of day when he ripped into a nice rump.

Any meat or fish is great for breakfast.  Make enough at dinner to have left-overs for breakfast.

I am having leftover roast beef for breakie (no eggs)  I just popped it in the microwave for 20 seconds per side and chomped.  It was GREAT!  Now for a banana chaser and I am ready to meet my day headon with afull belly.....Grrrrrr!!!!
No expectations, no disappointments!

I like to do what I call a "double fry."

Take any meat that's already been cooked, cut into smallish pieces and fry in lard or tallow. I cook it in a cast-iron skillet. My favorite is using beef roast. You can fry it so some of it gets a little crispy - it's quite good! The smaller you cut the pieces the easier to make it crispy without burning any of it. Even my non-paleo sister has started making this for herself and my niece after I cooked it for them one morning.

I almost always do this with chicken breast because it has so little fat/taste without doing this. For chicken I've tried goose and duck fat to fry in and both were amazing. That way I can eat the dark meat while it's hot out of the oven or crockpot and save the boring lean meat for the double fry. I also like to add fresh chives, or rosemary.

After the meat cooks for a bit and gets a little crispy you can add veggies and/or eggs.

Also the most paleo bacon I've found is...

They also have sausages that I get as a treat...

Runny, sunny-side-up eggs are great over a bed of chopped red pepper.  :)

I like serrano (spanish) or parma (italian) ham.  The pigs are fed on grass and acorns, and it's air dried (not cooked or smoked) with no preservatives or additives except salt.

If your food needs a prefix, it's not paleo!
